Yahoo SEPRs extra volatile?

In the last two weeks we have noticed an extreme amount of volatility in the Yahoo SERPs. Site ranks #1 one day and gone the next only to return to number one the following day.

If this were happening on only one site it wouldn't be a suprise but we are seeing it across many if not all of the sites we watch daily.

Is this a sign of a change in Yahoo's behavior/algorithim or of things to come.
The results from Yahoo, IMO, have been very static for some time now in the recent past.

Let's not forget that Yahoo has only been serving their own results since earlier this year so it is inevitable that their engine will continue to evolve and develop.

I have been bouncing like a ball! My site rather. At least for the moment it has settled with a rank of #1 and #2 for my top two search phrases respectivley.

Discussions on other non mortgage website design forums are beggining to conclude that Yahoo has made a significant change in their algorithim.

Early commentors believe that Yahoo has shifted to a more heavily back link based formula such as the one Google has had in place for some time now.

With MSN's beta search soon to replace their Inktomi based results you can be certain that Yahoo will not be caught sleeping during this major search engine transition!

Well Yahoo may have made some changes and in fact many of our mortgage broker websites did seem to fluctuate dramatically for a number of weeks, but now Yahoo has been rock steady since the end of December.

And their search results are begging to seem stale. While once sites moved quickly to the top with proper optimization, today there seems to be hold on updates.
