MSN Beta Search Gone Live?

Searches today from MSN's home page are returning searches from the new MSN beta search engine. Has MSN finished using Yahoo's Inktomi search results?

Well some days have passed and MSN continues to use their own search results as apposed to the previous Inktomi results.

We did some back link checks today and the new MSN seems to show a march larger sample of our mortgage broker websites back links.

The sites we checked show 5-10 times more links than the previous count. And, a quick look at the results appears to show a much greater listing of real links, even more than what is shown by Yahoo - which was previosly the standard for backlink confirmation.

This may explain the heavy spidering by the MSN Bot in the last few months. Perhaps they have an excelent database of the entire web?

Further review of the increase in MSN back links for mortgage broker websites reveals that the link command on MSN currently does not display the complete list. It does however report an equal amount of back links as the many link checking utuilities available online.

Well a few weeks have passed and MSN is still serving results from their Beta search engine. Rumor has it that the official launch will be on February 1st at which point they will drop the Beta tage from the search bar.
