How to target search phrases for your mortgage market.
First to be considered -- what's your lending market? Local by counties and towns, Statewide, or National? Remember the larger your target market the more competition you will likely face and therefore the more difficult if may be to rank your website near the top.
If you’re trying to rank near the top for terms like "your state mortgage" you should probably address all of the counties and towns in the state as well. You could add a single web page listing every county in your state and another listing every town name in your state.
Don't forget to include abbreviations for state and town names, e.g. CA for California and PHL and Philly for Philadelphia.
Ideally you should make a separate and dedicated page for each county/town. This way you can effectively target each term "your county mortgage", "your county refinance" and "your county interest rates" - remember you can only effectively target three search terms per page. These pages will add relevant, quality, information to your website. They will increase the size and page count of your website, and to date we haven't found anyone willing to argue against the old saying "content is king"!
If you choose to make a separate page for each county/town remember to make them as different as possible, tell something about the local area and how you have closed loans there in the past, try to have more than just the different names of the counties/towns. You don't want to put in all this effort only to have Google or one of the other engines penalize or worse ban your pages for duplicate content.
