Does page rank mean anything anymore?
I had occasion to visit a mortgage clients' website this week that I hadn't visited for some months. Upon arrival I was suprised to find that the website had a Google page rank of 4. Now this website is optimized, yet we built no links for this particular client. So I check their back links and find as expected that there are only a few (2-3) links.
Now, if 2-3 links equals PR 4, what does the tool bar displayed PR realy mean anymore? Once the gold measure of a websites strength in Google search results, apparently today, in an effort to diffuse efforts at spaming google, the displayed PR is virtually meaningless. Some of our top performing sites are also PR4 and this site has little or no search engine generated traffic.
So what is your opinion of Google PR?
