Mortgage Website Design FAQ's Answers!

Q. How long will it take for my website to go live on the internet?

A. When you place your order you will receive a confirmation email with the information to setup your domain name and a link to our setup form. On average your website will be ready for your review within 2-3 business days of receipt of the completed setup form. It takes a few days because we allow you to select the primary colors of your website, this way your site can truly reflect your own personal style. We also do custom graphics for the header of every site, no plain text headers... on our mortgage websites!

Your site is then ready to go live as soon as you approve the draft of your site.

Q. What can be changed or customized during the setup of my mortgage website?

A. If you tell us what you want before setup begins we will try to accommodate your request. Something you don't want, for example, commercial loan information, no problem we'll take it out.

Even if you need an extra page or two covering a topic specific to your mortgage company. Maybe a page about VA loans, FHA loans, Jumbo loans...

Don't forget to make your customization requests clear from the beginning.

Q. Once my website is completed can I edit it myself?

A. Once your website has been approved and live on the internet all you need to do is ask and we'll setup full FTP access to your website or you. With FTP access you can edit every part of your site.

We suggest that if you haven't worked on websites in the past you use a program like Macromedia Contribute 4 to edit your web pages. Contribute 4 allows you to edit the web page text much like editing a word processing document. And best of all, don't worry if you make a mistake because Contribute 4 automatically keeps backup copies so you can always step backwards to correct any problems you may create.

We have worked with many of the online editing tools many website designers supply with their sites, and frankly they are far from ideal. They often limit what you can edit and don't make any mistakes because there is no going back.

We design search engine friendly mortgage websites and we suggest you use a tool designed by a company that specializes in website editing software, not by a company trying to offer every bell and whistle with their mortgage websites even of the whistle blows a sour note.

Macromedia Contribute was highly recommended by Mortgage Technology Magazine in their December 2003 edition.

Q. . Do you offer an online 1003 form standard on your mortgage websites that I can import into my LOS?

A. Our Calyx Point importable 1003 mortgage application has the the best features of any online importable 1003 available today. Just to list a few:

check markNo more lost borrowers, the 1003 application start page captures all of the most important information about the borrower including: their contact information, how they rate their credit, reason for the loan and the loan amount. Each borrower enters and all of this prior to entering the full application, an email is immediately and automatically sent to you… which means no more lost leads due to the visitor being overwhelmed and abandoning the application before sending it.

check mark Borrowers may fill out an importable quick application or a full 1003 application. One of four versions of the quick application is automatically presented to the borrower based on the reason for loan they select, refinance, purchase, debt consolidation or home equity.

check markIf the borrower selects the full 1003 application they can stop at any time and their application will be saved so they can continue at anytime in the future without loosing there application.

We suggest that you should give visitors easy options for contacting you, don't scare them away - they'll find another website that is more accommodating to their needs. Allow borrowers to contact you:

a. by telephone,
b. by email,
c. by short contact form,
d. by short mortgage application,
e. or by full 1003.

Q. Do you offer a back office that my clients can use to check on the status of their loans?

A. Another great feature right? You'll save hours on the phone everyday by having your clients visit your website as apposed to consuming your time asking where their loan is in the mortgage process. And don't forget the phone savings if they call on your toll free line, right.

Well not in our opinion. What these companies don't tell you is that for your online loan status system to be of any value someone on your staff has to continuously update the online status of every loan, for every client, even if they don't check.

And what about the personal relationship you NEED to build with each client. Avoid these phone calls and watch your future personal referrals drop down the drain. If you've been in the mortgage business for any length of time you know that your largest source of new business is your past clients, when they refinance, move or when their family, friends and coworkers need a loan.

Q. I don't see anything I like in your standard mortgage website templates. Can you build a custom mortgage website for me?

A. Yes we can build a custom mortgage website to your specification. Just show us an example of the style your interested in and we'll give you an estimate of the cost. And, considering our hourly website design labor rate is about half the cost of competing mortgage website designers - you'll be surprised how reasonably priced your website will be.

Q. I need a few extra pages on my website, will you add them for me?

A. Yes, just tell us before the setup is started and send us the text you want on the pages in an *.txt file created in MS Note Pad and attach it to an email, and we will fully incorporate them into your new mortgage website.

And, if you want pages or changes months down the road - our low hourly rate will convince you to allow us to focus on your website while you concentrate on closing more loans.
